Brockenhurst Football Club have been required to replace our floodlights with a like-for-like modern solution by the Football Association.

Our old floodlights, which were significantly broken and had been on life support for over two years, ultimately failed safety standards testing.

​

The modern replacements adhere to more rigorous current standards including being more efficient from both a light pollution and energy perspective … once bedded in this solution is designed to be better for the football club, our neighbours and the broader environment.

The new lights were installed over the last 2 weeks of August and switched on for testing on 3rd September. The solution is highly configurable and adjustments can be made to address any short comings in the initial installation … specifically the addition of cowling should lights inadvertently shine directly into neighboring buildings / houses.

Over the coming weeks the lights will begin to be used for evening fixtures and further tests will be undertaken to ensure they meet the required standards - including light spillage / pollution in the areas immediately around the football club.

The football club are acutely aware that we are in the middle of both the village and national park and will continue to ensure we work to the appropriate regulations / standards … appropriate adjustments will be made to the new lights once we have established what is required.

Please continue to be patient with us as like most local sports & social clubs these days, the club is run entirely by volunteers on a shoestring budget. We rely upon grants & donations to move projects forward. We have a long list of improvements on our wish list and continue to tick them off as quickly as possible.
